Teaching Week 1 26/09/16
  • Intro to module
  • Class assignment: Portrait Speed Dating
  • Homework: Self Portrait and Student to create a blog/online portfolio and bring the link to next week's class to add to Module Blog. Upload your work from this week and your Self Portrait to blog.
Week 2 03/10/16
  • Life drawing 1: Intro.
  • Homework: Drawing household objects in negative space.
Week 3 10/10/16
  • Life drawing 2: Proportion. 
  • Homework: Still Life Self Portrait
Week 4 17/10/16
  • Life drawing 3: Proportion recap and Foreshortening.
  • Homework: Drawing Your Hand Holding Different Objects
Week 5 24/10/16
  • Life drawing 4: Subtractive Tone.
  • Homework: Subtractive Tone Self Potraits.
Worcester Week 31st October - 04th November
Independent study begin research and writing of Reflective Essay/Learning Report AND Drawing at Bristol Zoo on Monday 31st.

Week 6 07/11/16
  • Life drawing 5: Tone and Wet and Dry Media.
  • Homework: Cafe Drawing
Week 7 14/11/16
  • Life drawing 6: Working in Layers (Developing Tone).
  • Homework: Complete any unfinished homework assignments.
  • Continue research and writing of Reflective Essay/Learning Report.
Week 8 21/11/16
  • Homework review/group Critique and Peer Assessment.
  • Homework: Complete unfinished assignments, label work and organize portfolio for assessment, digitize and upload any remaining work that has not been added to your online portfolio or blog. 
  • Continue research and writing of Reflective Essay/Learning Report. 
Week 9 28/11/16
  • Worcester Museum.
  • Homework: Complete unfinished assignments, label work and organize portfolio for assessment, digitize and upload any remaining work that has not been added to your online portfolio or blog. 
  • Complete research and writing of Reflective Essay/Learning Report. 
Week 10 05/12/16
  • Students submit physical work for assessment as a portfolio in their Monday and Friday classes respectively along with a printed out copy of your Reflective Essay/Learning Report.
  • The tutors mark the work independently in their classes and use the blog/online portfolio to to review the work, cross mark and write feedback. 
  • Students return at the end of class to collect their work.
N.B. Any work that is not collected from the Garage could be thrown out as there is limited space and cannot store work. If you are unable to collect your work you need to make arrangements with Dan (technical staff) to temporarily store your work or have a friend collect it for you.

Christmas Break 12th December - 2nd Jan

Review/critique and re-work of the work completed in Week 11 and 12.  Tableaux work.

Independent Drawing Task: Secondary Reference inspired by Elizabeth Peyton

Week 3 13/02/17
Life drawing 2: Proportion Revisited
Independent Drawing Task: Keep working in Your Sketchbooks.

Week 4 20/02/17
Life drawing 3: Foreshortening and Form
Independent Drawing Task: Keep working in Your Sketchbooks.

Week 5 27/02/17
Life drawing 4: Life Model and Skeletons.
Independent Drawing Task: Atmosphere Night Drawing

Week 6 06/03/17
Life drawing 5: Movement.
Independent Drawing Task: Draw Moving People and Animals using Primary and Secondary Research.

Week 7 13/03/17
Life drawing 6: Experimental Life Drawing
Independent Drawing Task: Complete unfinished homework and write learning report/reflective essay.

Week 8 20/03/17

Location Drawing and River Walk: Construct an Image from Primary Sources.
Independent Drawing Task: Complete unfinished homework and write learning report/reflective essay.

Week 9 27/03/17
Location Drawing: The Hive.
Independent Drawing Task: Narrative work based on Hive Location Work

Week 10 03/04/17

Peer Assessment
Please bring all course work, including sketchbook/s, all life drawing studies, independent tasks etc. (and in a portfolio please).

Week 12 01/05/17


(Monday is a bank holiday, so Friday session only - Monday students are welcome to attend! )
Due to the May Bank Holiday on Monday the 01/05/17 there will be No Monday occurence of this class!! Students who want to make up the missed session can attend Stephens' class on either Friday morning or Friday afternoon.
